Charles Mitchell is a highly skilled business litigation attorney with broad practice experience in the areas of complex commercial litigation, business torts, shareholder disputes, internal and regulatory investigations, corporate compliance, entertainment law, and employment matters.
Charles regularly represents both plaintiffs and defendants in state and federal court, and in arbitration and alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Charles also has represented business clients in class actions, multidistrict litigations, qui tam actions, SEC and DOJ investigations, and state and federal appeals. In addition to his active trial practice, Charles works with clients to reach business goals without protracted court involvement. He has a proven track record as an efficient problem-solver and skillful negotiator, determining how to handle business disputes in the most effective manner. His clients have included several major media and telecommunications corporations, stadium and real estate developers, the largest wine and spirits distributor in the United States, and several governmental entities and individuals, including the governor of Colorado, the Denver city auditor, and the San Miguel County Commissioners.
Charles received his undergraduate degree from Southern Methodist University and his law degree from New York Law School, where he graduated first in his class. Following law school, Charles served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable John C. Porfilio of the Uunited States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. Prior to joining Sander, Ingebretsen & Wake, Charles was a partner at Hogan & Hartson, LLP (now Hogan Lovells), where he practiced for ten years.
Charles is an active member of the Colorado Bar Association. He enjoys working with the Colorado Lawyers Committee, Colorado Lawyers for the Arts, and the Denver Film Society. He is admitted to practice in all Colorado and New York state courts, the United States District Court for the District of Colorado, the Ninth and Tenth Circuit Courts of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court.
